Regular Loan Calculator

Solve standard loan terms and generate a full monthly amortization schedule with calendar-year principal and interest totals.

Loan Setup

Used only to identify the loan on the printed report and CSV export.
The date the loan is funded or legally begins.
The due date of the first scheduled regular monthly payment.
Determines how interest before the first full regular payment period is handled. When paid at closing, it is shown separately and does not change principal.
Used only to calculate the Initial Irregular Period Interest, when applicable.
End of Period is the standard convention for most amortizing loans.
How this calculator defines the initial loan periods

Initial Irregular Period: the period from the Loan Origination Date through the day before the first full regular payment period begins. When treated as paid at closing, its interest is shown separately as Initial Irregular Period Interest and included in that calendar year's interest totals.

First Regular Payment Period: under End of Period timing, the full monthly period immediately preceding the First Regular Payment Date. Example: a payment due November 1 normally corresponds to the October 1–October 31 regular period.

Loan Solver

Enter three of the four financial variables. Select the variable you want the calculator to solve.

Original principal amount financed.
Nominal annual rate. Regular monthly rate = Annual Rate ÷ 12.
Use the contractual monthly payment when Payment is a known variable.
Number of monthly payment periods. Calculated N may be non-integer; the schedule uses the next whole payment and adjusts the final payment.

Important

This calculator is provided for informational, accounting, and planning purposes only. Results are estimates and may differ from lender statements due to interest calculation methods, day-count conventions, payment application dates, fees, rounding, or other loan-specific terms. Initial Irregular Period Interest is assumed to be paid or settled at closing when that treatment is selected. Always refer to the lender's official documents and statements for authoritative loan balances and payment information.
